Floorplan Annual Seven-a-side 2011

seven aside football

Back Row ; Stephen Hosie, Iain Brodie, Iain Mccormack, Gordon Brodie, Alec Hyslop, Jim Schultz, Tony Brodie and Davy Phillips Snr.

Front Row ; David Ramsey, Ross McDonald, Davy Phillips Jnr Neil and Denis Beattie.

The above team played fearlessly against some strong opposition from Lodges Dumbarton Killwinning 18, Lodge Bonhill, Alexandria St Andrews 321 and Lodge Leven St John Renton.  Our team played well in the final only to face a penalty shoot out after a late goal from Dumbarton (4-4), however all went well for our on the spot penalty takers bring home yet more silver for the cabinet.

Winning the tournament this year means we host next years event, I am sure that it will be just as tough holding onto it, well done lads.

Claude Hamilton Golf Competition

On the first of June Brothers; Alec Hyslop, Grahamme Mackintosh and Steven bridge entered the Claude Hamilton Golf Trophy.  As holders of this revered trophy it was always going to be a tough meet and they put up a good fight; however, they were pipped at the last hole!  Well done brethren, I am sure the trophy will be in better hands again next year.

PGL Dunbartonshire Fishing Competition.

In May our intrepid anglers set forth to take on other fraternal brothers in an annual fishing competition, it was the first time that our lodge has been entered.  The team Calvert Fell, Jim McMurdo, Thomas Hyslop, Dougie Freils, John Brown, Scott Brown, Andy Murray, Neil Cossar and Rab Butler was headed by Alec Hyslop.  The brethren split into two teams to start angling against some 28 anglers fighting for the same fish; however, our brethren fished well catching 25 between them and winning the competition.  Notably Alec and Thomas hauling in 9 fish between them, Alec managing 6 of those himself, well done brethren more silver for the trophy cabinet.

Summer Recess

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the brethren for their hard work over the past year, and hope they enjoy a well deserved rest over the recess.

Over the recess we will be comencing refurbishment work in the ante-room and the toilet area.

Any brethren who feel they have time to spare and wish to help out with the work, should come to the Lodge on Monday 31st May at 7:30pm where we will be discussing the scope and timetable of work.

Many hands make lighter work, so I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible over the recess!

Once again, thank you all for your hard work and hope you come back in September fully refreshed.

Yours fraternally,

Russell Elliott,
Right Worshipful Master.
